What’s Wrong With My Wacom? from John Hartman Illustration on Vimeo.
“Yikes, my lines look like they just got back from an all-night bar crawl”!
You paid a lot money for your Wacom tablet or Cintiq, so why doesn’t it work better? Drawing in Photoshop makes my lines look like they have been on a bar crawl. To find out what was going on I did some experiments. First I used a ruler on the screen of my Cintiq to guide my stylus. And guest what? The lines were just as wonky. Good thing, since this means its not the whisky, I would really hate to give that up. To see if the problem would happen without using my Cintiq I tried running a mouse along a straight edge. It was just as bad if not worse. This indicated to me it was not the fault of the Cintiq, so then something would have to be wrong with my PC or windows or Photoshop. I then tried the same ruler trick with other software. Painter had the problem but not as bad. Sketchbook Pro was much better. So Now I am concluding that Photoshop does not interface well with either the mouse or the Cintiq. I also made adjustments to my Photoshop settings to see if this would fix the problem, that wasn’t productive. To Find out how I finally solved the problem, view my short tutorial with examples and solutions. Thanks.
