Another great illustration assignment from Fine Woodworking’s Mike Pekovich. The great page design Mike and John created really makes the artwork sing, not nearly as interesting to look at without great page design. I have found that blowup drawings like this need to be stabilized by the other page elements and they are both masters of this art form.
Technical Challenges:
- Keeping the illustration condensed. With an exploded view like this its a good idea to not let parts spread out too far. If the face frame were pulled out far enough to clear the case, the drawing would become too pulled apart. The solution, to cut the right style to reveal the inner shelves.
